Harvest The Arts Yarn Bomb, Southington, CT

So while this post is very late I wanted to be sure to record and make note of all the hard work that went into creating the Harvest The Arts Yarn Bomb!

Several weeks and many yarn bombers went into the making of this wonderful block long installation in Southington, CT as part of the yearly Apple Harvest Festival.

Even weeks later our fabulous pieces were still wrapping trees, light posts, benches and trash cans. I got to enjoy many interactions between our pieces and the public from hearing someone calling it a "tree sweater" to a man telling me that he took a piece down and it was on its way to his daughter in Michigan. As I was out for a run one afternoon I even witnessed the final surviving yarn bomb being ripped off a tree by a teenager who draped it over the head of his friend while walking by. Good times!

So thank you to all my HookL8eZ who helped out in so many ways. It couldn't have been done without you!

CALLING ALL CONNECTICUT YARN BOMBERS

Well I may have revealed too much but while out on a walk today I came across an artist who was commissioned to paint the back of a building that faces our local walking path (an old train track converted to a path for walking, running, biking). This painting is an effort to discourage graffiti and tagging of the buildings on the path. Sooooo with that subject came the topic of the removable, beautiful form of tagging we know and love - yarn bombing!

And now we have been asked to yarn bomb a section of a local street that will be blocked off for a fall Apple Harvest Festival's Harvest the Arts! I'm looking for fibert artists to assist me with creating fall yarn bombs and tagging the street prior to the start of the festival!
INTERESTED? EMAIL ME AT C.Knitty@stitchitlikeyoustoleit.com The festival is in early October so we don't have much time!

Downtown M-town = TAGGED!

Nice night for a yarn bombing! Lots of folks enjoying the unusually warm night on Main Street, M-town (my hometown)... Nice cover from the parked cars... Lil' Knit as my accomplice and D-Hook takin' pics. How lucky I am! Who else can say they take their whole family on a tagging adventure?!
Let the tagging begin... we tagged 3 parking meters in all.

Lil' Knit lends a hand

I think Lil' Knit is inspecting my stitches... they were not so good so we opted for zip ties!

Trying to stay Incog-knit-o for the camera ;-)
We plan to return to the scene of the crime to take some full view pics with the fountain behind. Hope the water is running... it will look awesome!

Meet the Hook L8eZ

Iwas meant to be - two co-workers thrown together into a small room, strangers to one another, until one day, they discovered a shared passion for crochet. Over time, a strong friendship developed, bonding over wools and silks, hooks and needles, wine and peanut butter.... Uhhhhh.... Anyway, although one of them moved away, these ladies remain the closest of friends and use email, texting and frequent visits to keep in touch. Whether sharing photos of a latest project, proofing patterns for each other, or lending advice on color combinations, these two could not think of making something that would not involve the other in in some way. And so were born Hook Master C and C. Knitty... the Hook L8eZ.
